Yes, the most important thing is that you do your research first! Find out what the car is really worth by searching kelly blue book. Also, if possible bring a mechanic or someone who knows about cars along to check on the car.

The best advice is: shop around. Don't go with the first one you see on a lot or someones driveway with a for sale sign on it. Used car lots are a good place to look, usually trustworthy. Also places like craigslist is a good way to find a good used car, just be sure to check it out first.

If you are going to use a loan, get pre-approved first. Check the blue book value of care you might like to get. Next find a mechanic that can check out the vehicle. Go to more than one place to look.

If this is your first car I would suggest taking someone with experience with you. Do your research by checking the kelley blue book value. If you are going to a dealer beware they are there to make money and they will pressure you. Don't fill out any paperwork or give any personal information until you decide to purchase.

You should always go to a place that can be trusted. You should also take a friend that knows a little more about cars than you. A friend that can check the spark plugs, and other parts to make sure you are getting a good car. Also ask to drive the car to make sure it runs.

You should go look at what you want and see if they will give you a car history sheet. If they won't then you will need to obtain some information and check it at Carfax.com.
