Plasma televisions will tend to appear used before an LCD unit. That being said a plasma should be viewable longer as a lcd lamp begins to burn out. Philips is a very reliable name brand. While I would not call it an investment you should be have it for years.

Of course it is. The old Tv-s are consuming more electricity, have less conections posibilitie, worst image and the radiations of the tube affect our health.

Philips do make good quality plasma TVs, so with proper care they will last a long time, and they are affordable. Avoid plasma "burn-ins" by keeping it in a cool, dry environment with adequate ventilation. If you want to splurge, consider a Sony, Panasonic or Samsung TV, as there may be more options.

I have had a number of Philips products and they generally tend to work out rather nicely. I would recommend however getting the extended warrenty. I am often satisfied with the product, though there tends to be some element that tends to fail-having it refurbished or maintenance from time to time coupled with cleaning will also encourage prolonged product life.

No, you should never buy a plasma TV because if you tilt them or anything the TV will no longer work.I would suggest a HD Samsung LCD.
