Is sugar alcohol flammable?

Someone said that sugar alcohol was flammable.

Sugar alcohol is a mixture of carbohydrates, containing carbon, oxigen and hydrogen mainly. Altough not nearly as flammable as ethanol, they can ignite under the right circunstances.

Sugar alcohols, being hydrocarbons, are flammable. The most common sugar alcohol, sorbitol, is flammable. Any molecule with a structure made of of hydrogens, carbons, and oxygens will be flammable. Certain molecules require more heat than others.

Their flavor is like sucrose, and they can be used to mask the unpleasant aftertastes of some high intensity sweeteners. Sugar alcohols are not metabolized by oral bacteria, and so they do not contribute to tooth decay. [citation needed] They do not brown or caramelize when heated. hope i could help
