The average dress size for women in America is 12-14. So yes, that is perfectly average. The global average is smaller, as is the typical dress size for fashion models.

The average size for a Woman would be a 14. Younger females would be smaller of course but once they have had children, body parts do not go back into oringal shape and size thus clothes must be roomier. My experience is that 'Women' do wear a larger size with 14 being average.

It would depend on how tall the woman is. If you are 4'11", then a size 14 looks different than if you are 5'8" and a 14.

Some reports will say size 14 is average, some say size 12. I have seen 12 noted more often. However, the average size for women in the United States decades ago was a size 8 and has been on a fairly steady increase since then as shown by todays average sizes.

Average size depends greatly on height. If a woman is 5'9" and a size 14, then she is probably fairly slim and can purchase clothes easily off the rack without much need for alteration. However, if a woman is 5'3" and a size 14, she probably has her pants shortened, and dreams of being petite. Assure her she's above average!
