The correct term would be single phase. You can figure out how many phases you have by the number of hot wires are connected at the panel.

Most houses are single phase meaning two hots one nuetral, your panel should have a rating. If you have a mainbreaker you will have two wires going to it for singlephase.

Your house is on single phase AC power. Multiple phases of electricity are used for stable power. The majority of items in the home actually operate on DC power. They all have built in power supplies that turn the AC from the wall outlet into internal DC power. The way you would know is if you have any special devices.
