Is it true that if you do not share your files you will not get caught?

I have files that indicate that I have done wrong, should I delete them.

This question is beyond the scope of legal advice, and enters into soliciting advice on a criminal enterprise. The duplication or transmission of copyrighted material (where you are not the copyright owner) is illegal. Not "sharing" is no guarantee that the violation will not be detected.

Downloading copyrighted material is illegal, because you are making an unauthorized copy. People who download sometimes download a file that is tagged by the copyright owner. When a tagged file is downloaded the person may be notified by their internet provider that they have downloaded copyrighted material without permission and can be sued.

There is no real garantee that the files will be entirely erased. If what you did is correctable, then admit what you have done wrong before you get caught.
