Consult with your physician or give the pharmacist a call. Your health and medication history plays a large part is determining what medications might be safe for you to combine with beta-blockers. Rely only on your health professionals to give you sound, accurate advice in this matter.

There are no know reasons why you can't take Benadryl while on Beta blockers. I was also on a beta blocker and took benadryl. They do not interfer with each other. Beta blockers do something to slow your heart rate to lower your blood pressure. As always do not overdose on the benadryl and talk to your doctor.

Benadryl is one of the least reactive drugs on the market. The only possible concern is that Benadryl does cause drowsiness. If your beta blockers cause drowsiness and you have the same reaction to Benadryl, do not drive or do any task that is dangerous due to the fatigue and sleepiness.

It is slightly possible that there could be an interaction. Normally, it is acceptable; however, your doctor should watch for hypotension and excessive or prolonged CNS depression.

There is some literature that shows diphenhydramine prevents the down-regulation of beta-adrenergic receptors caused by beta-agonist medications (salbutamol, epineprine, etc.). Many beta-blockers work differently from each other and it's important that you discuss the mechanism of action with your physician and pharmacist.  add a comment
