What's the reason? If he's happy with dry food its better for his digestive system. It stays fresher longer in the bowl. It's cheaper and healthier. Dry food helps their teeth and stomach to digest food. He get mad and do some damage to your floors or carpeting. He might stop going in the litter box.

Both dry and wet foods can supply a cat's nutritional needs. However, you should not make the transition overnight. The switch should be phased in gradually for a week to ten days to ensure your cat does not suffer digestive upset.

If a cat is eating dry food it is ok to switch it to wet food, however the cat may experience stomach aches. The cat may vomit due to the change in diet.

I guess it would be okay but you should really give them both as the dry food is good for the teeth and they just seem to like wet food.
