Is it difficult walking following a lumbar fusion?

It can be difficult to walk, as you will likely be in a fair amount of pain. The nurses should be going over some exercises that you should be doing, and help you with them. No matter the pain; however, activity such as walking is incredibly important for recovery.

Lumbar arthrodesis[fusion] may cause some restriction of mobility but one should not have any difficulty in walking except maybe slight stiffnes while trying to walk fast or run.

yes, it's difficult walking after lumbar fusion, it is recommended to stay in bed because withdrawal or fusion in lumbar area could cause sudden changes in pressure in our brain.

though strenuos activity is not recommended, it is advised that one does experience some movement, for it does help in the healing process.
