Yes, there are many highly talented people who also suffer from anxiety. Sometimes it can seem contradictory if the person is also a performer. Madonna has said that sometimes she will have a panic attack while performing, and Michael Jackson was extremely shy.

Anxiety is as common in gifted people as anybody else -- no more and no less. His gift doesn't cause the anxiety, although it may "help him worry. " A psychiatrist (an MD, NOT a psychologist or a "counsellor") can rule out physical causes for his anxiety.

Having Anxiety to a limit is good, But when it crosses the limit it can cause verious psychological problems. More anxiety can lead to depression, Insomnia, Hatreadness etc.. Hence advice your husbant to reduce his anxiety level. Your husbant can also practice various technniques like yoga, breathing exercises to reduce the level of anxiety.

This is not uncommon, as the gifted are held to a high expectation, and many feel anxiety and pressure to perform to those expectations. A high stress job or educational experience can contribute. If his anxiety is at the level of affecting his daily functioning, it may be time to seek help, be it through medication, therapy, or management techniques.
