Is FOB Kalsu the same as Camp Kalsu?

Yes, they are referring to the same place. In "Army Speak", FOB stands for Forward Operating Base. Camp, or FOB Kalsu, is close to Baghdad. Kalsu was establised by the United States military in May 2003. This camp is closed to the public. The military reached back to Vietnam when naming the camp, to Bob Kalsu, a former Buffalo Bill.

FOB Kalsu stands for Forward Operating Base Kalsu, which is another name for Camp Kalsu. It is a United States military installation south of Baghdad. It was established in May 2003, and named after the All-American football player, Bob Kalsu, who played for both the Buffalo Bills and Oklahoma University.

Yes, a FOB or forward operating base is just a fancy term we use to describe a camp. All bases start out with a tiny FOB away from the bigger base.
