Is Dex Cool X type recommended for GM vehicles?

I have heard that Dex Cool is one of the better engine coolants on the market but would like to see if it is safe for my GM.

Dex Cool is the coolant used by the GM factory in all vehicles built after 1996. GM owners have complained that the coolant corrodes and clogs radiators and caps, erodes water pumps, rots radiator hoses, causes chronic overheating, engine damage, and leads to leaky engine gaskets. Mixing Dex Cool with other coolants creates engine sludge.

GM accepts the Dex Cool X but says it's only good for 5 years or 150,000 miles. Dex Cool also states that it should be used in '96 or newer GM vehicles. Because there are conflicting reports about possible damage, you should check your owner's manual and ask the head mechanic at your dealer's.

Dex cool is factory filled for many GM vehicles since 1996. It is better because it is silicate free. Jag coolant is also very good and silicate free, so try that also.

A coolant is a coolant is a coolant.. The only difference between any of the brands are the amount of cleaning solution they have in them. Your owners manual will tell you what is reccomended for your vehicle.
