It isn't hook shaped, so I'm not entirely why they picked the name "candy cane coral", but it is very colorful with bring vibrant color variations. I assume "candy" comes from the colors.
They are more rounded and look like candy cane mints. They are also called Trumpet corals. They have individual stalk skeletons that branch on top of each other and the tips of each stalk is colored, hence the candy cane look.
