A freshwater blue lobster is not really that good of a beginner invertebrate. They have some special needs like cooler temperatures and a special diet. They will also sometimes get aggressive with smaller tank mates and fish with large flowing fins. They are also very sensitive to poor water quality.

Blue lobsters are not good for a beginner. The get fairly large measuring at most a foot, they need an aquarium of at least 50 gallon. Also they can be very aggressive. Not suited for the beginner.

They're quite easy to care for. They stay small and are only agressive toward small, slow fish and other blue lobsters. They require a substrate for burrowing and will eat any food that comes to the bottom of the tank.
