In Virginia, what was the civil rights restoration with regards to firearms rights?

Following emancipation there were many "Jim Crow" laws limiting the rights of African-Americans in the South. Some of these made it illegal for African Americans to own firearms. The civil rights act ended this and other discriminations.

The right to possess firearms is something afforded to U. S. citizens by the Constitution. The same is true of Civil Rights.

The Virgina State Police have guidelines that spell this out simply and clearly. There are a number of circumstances in which you may be allowed purchase and possession of a firearm, but there are many contingencies and I suggest reviewing these guidelines. They do NOT apply in a federal conviction.
