One cause for this pain is the baby is causing pressure on the sciatic nerve. This is common in pregnancy and when you have the baby it should go away.

When you are pregnant, added pressure is put on the veins running down your leg. The can cause varicose veins.

The shooting pain is probably the sciatic nerve. This nerve runs down both legs and during pregnancy the weight of the baby and the large uterus will cause pressure on the nerve which can cause severe pain and even loss of feeling causing you to fall.
