Yes, brown rice is susceptible to brown spot disease. The spots start out on the plant leaves very early. The spots are caused by a fungus and can spread in a field from plant to plant by airborne spores. Plants grown in poor soil are more prone to the disease.

I would recommend that you dont eat that. If the rice has spots then its not good anymore for consumption.

Brown rice is a rice variety which is very rich in Vitamin B. It is called brown rice because it is covered with brown substance. This substance is water soluble. The more one washes the rice, the less Vitamin B one gets. The brown spots which appear in rice is not really bad.

Brown rice can go bad rather quickly. If it has spots, or smells it should be tossed out. Brown rice can go rancid rather quickly and it is best stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Rice should have no real smell to it. If your rice has a musty or rancid odor, throw it out.

I've seen some natural brown rices that have tiny brown spots. If your rice is sealed in a tight container and is not past expiration it should be fine.

Yes, if it has brown spots, then it has gone bad and should be thrown away. If it is mixed in wild rice, each grain of rice will retain its own color, whether brown, white, or black. If it has any discolored spots, it should be thrown out and not eaten.
