You should have to pay child support if you are on welfare. You are responsible for bringing that child into this world. The child should not have to suffer just because you are to lazy to find an appropriate way to support it. Child support is based on your income. Being on welfare, you shouln not take a big hit.

Yes. Your children have to be taken care of no matter what your source of income is. Whether it be welfare, medical leave, or a job, your children still have to eat and have a place to live, etc., and you are responsible for providing it for them.

Depending on what state you are in, your welfare status is usually irrelevant to eligability to have to pay child support. It would all depend upon your financial status as above or below the poverty line.

Although laws vary from state to state, child support is usually an absolute obligation. While the amount of income might affect the amount of support, states usually set a minimum. It is expected that parents find a way to earn enough to meet this minimum.

If you live in California you don't because they reward lazy non-custodial parents!
