If you are taking morphine-based drugs, they will show up in a strand test. When you go for the test, give the lab tech a list of drugs you are taking with information regarding the prescribing physician. Prescription drugs are not a problem in the world of drug testing, unless it is not your prescription.

Some compounds, such as opiate painkillers and psychiatric drugs, will show up. However, if you present a doctor's prescription for these medications before you take the test, the lab will notify the employer that the positive result if a false one, for medical and not illegal drug use.

If the drug test is testing for the substances in your medication (like opioids, if you're on painkillers), then yes. However, the test differentiates between what KINDS of drugs are in your hair. If you have a prescription for something that shows up in the test, you're fine.
