I have already sold my house, but I haven't found a new one yet, so what should I do?

I would rent an apartment and take my time looking for a new house. Rushing to find one in this economy will certainly cause you to overpay. Many complexes will do a six month lease.

Move out of your house and give yourself some time. Put most of your belongings in storage and rent a small place somewhere. That way you will be able to look for your new place with no added pressure.

The safest thing is to rent for several months. It gives you a place to stay as well as time to bargain hunt for a new one.

You could ask the new owners if you could rent the house until you find a house to purchase. Otherwise you may have to rent a short term place or a extended stay hotel. It shoud be spelled out in the contract when you have to be out of your house.
