I have a strange growth in my fish tank. What is it, and what should I do?

The growth maybe algae on the glass. i recommend purchasing an algae eater. They are scavengers and great tank cleaners. If not, purchase a chemical that gets rid of the cloudy water at any local pet store. Also trying removing a quarter of the water from your tank and adding new water.

If it is all around the fish tank, it is likely algae growth. A little bit is fine, but too much is bad for the fish. Move the tank out of direct sunlight, schedule your fish feedings regularly and stick to it, and to clean the existing growth, scrub gently.

Most likely you have an algea bloom. If the color is green or white you will need purchase a quality algaecide from you local pet store.

If the growth is in the fish tank move the fish to another tank and treat them with antifungal antistress. Clean tank, rocks, filters, and plants well before adding fish.

If you use oxygen generator then you can clean your tank for a 2 week interval. If you keep your tank for more than that some of the micro organisms will grow thats the reason for your growth in the tank. Clean your tank with salt and keep it sunlight for 10 minutes. This will keep your tank away from such growths.
