I can't urinate normally after having surgery is this normal?

I had surgery Sept. 28th and was released from the hospital on Oct. 1st. Now I am having trouble urinating normally. I am very concerned about this. Was I released too soon from the hospital?

If your doctor did not warn you that this was a recovery effect then while it may be sub-normal you should still notify your doctor of this issue. If it were a totally normal reaction to your surgery your doctor would have prepared you for it before releasing you.

It could be due to the medications they have you on. I would suggest you call the surgeon and let them know. It could be that you aren't drinking enough liquids either. I would call the doctor and let them know what is going on with you.

There are several reasons you could be experiencing problems with urination following surgery. You could just be dehydrated, or it could be directly related to the operation. It really depends on what kind of surgery you underwent. You should notify your surgeon immmediately to be re-evaluated concerning this problem.

First, what kind of surgery did you have? If you are having trouble urinating, then yes, you have a medical problem and need to go back to the hospital and have it looked at.
