Your dog will know. She won't get up and change behaviors until all the pups are delivered.

She will be very tired and will be to busy feeding her pups to wander off right away. She will stay there. She will be too busy keeping them warm at first and feeding. She will take care of them. If you are not sure take her to the vet.

The mother will clean the puppies and devour any evidence of the birth. This is an instinct so predators do not smell the afterbirth. Mother dog will stay with the pups, providing them with nourishment and antibodies for at least a couple days before she leaves to find her something to eat.
