Make sure to wear gloves! These plants can be very sharp. You want to trim during the warmer months, late spring or early summer. You can use a small pair of scissors or gardening shears to trim off half of each stalk. This will give it plenty of room to grow and it will come back bushier the next year.

It should be trimmed only during warmer times, spring or summer. Be sure to wear protective gloves when trimming, the plant can be quite prickly.

As these plants could be extremely razor-sharp, it is advised that hands are protected by putting on gloves. The best time to trim these plants is early summer or towards the end of spring. In order for the yucca to grow again bushier, they should be trimmed off half each by using gardening shears or a small pair of scissors

In one of two fashions: Wearing gloves with a small pair of scissors (such as thread scissors), or if you have gardening hands like I do, immune to the largest of thorns, simply pinch off the deadened leaves. Spineless Yucca can be tough, and usually the pinching approach works best for me!

Very carefully I have never trimmed mine I keep watch of them and when something doesn't look right I take my hand and pinch it off it seals the wound.

You should always wear gloves because of the sharp stalks. You can pinch off the dead leaves, or trim the stalks with small scissors.

You want to trim near where a branch splits off. This will cause the plant to branch more and be more bushy.

I like to trim it in the warmer weather because thats most suitable. Also a good idea is to wear protection because they have spikey thorns that can penetrate skin.

It is best to prune it in the spring. First go to a garden center and buy some rooting hormone, Lowes, Walmart, Home Depot all carry it, it comes in a small plastic bottle. Cut each stalk in half or more so it has plenty of room to grow again.
