If you already have a valid power of attorney in place, you may sign papers for the principal with the principal's consent and direction. If your name is Susan Smith and the principal is Larry Paulson, you can sign a document "Susan Smith" and print "For Larry Paulson." These signatures should be valued.

The depends on the power of attorney you have. If you have medical power of attorney for someone, you do not have the authority to sell their property. If you have financial power of attorney, you can pay their medical bills but cannot sign a do not resuscitate order on their behalf.
