Be friendly, and have absolute confidence in your own ability and your show idea. It's also a good idea to know who the people are you're pitching to and their past history, it will both help you with how to approach the pitch and boost your confidence.

Make it clean, fresh and to the point. State facts but stay away from stating the obvious and don't tell people what they should think or conclude. Practice, if need be, to polish your presentation.

You need connections in the industry. Your idea alone, no matter how good it is, is unlikely to have an impact unless someone in the industry introduces you to a key decision maker. If you don't know anyone in the industry, you will have to get involved somehow.

You have to be prepared to defend your script and idea, and take a lot of critiscm and suggestions (and be prepared for some changes to your idea).

Go over all the information you have on the series. Get someone else to look over it and ask questions the company might ask. Practice giving your pitch to an audience.

It is extremely difficult to pitch a new tv series. You have a better chance if you already have some television credits as a producer or director.
