How should I go about hunting for scorpions in Tennessee?

I read that the Plain Eastern Stripeless and the Striped Scorpion can both be found in Tennessee. Where are the best areas to hunt them at night with a black light?

There are species of scorpions that live in Tennessee. They are both nocturnal and cold blooded so your best chances to hunt them are on warm nights.

Scorpions like to dwell in the same type of environments as spiders. Check under large, flat rocks, rotting tree stumps, and dark, damp areas like wood piles and sheds. Usually if you hang out in these areas at night with a black light you should be able to see them coming out to hunt.

They are actually hard to find. The most prosperous time would probably be at night around the warmer months from the late spring to early august when it's still hot outside. or during the daytime is possible too but you'll have to go looking under rocks and on the inside of dead tree bark where they rest at.

Well basically you can look for them in forest areas at night. Also use a flash light that will help you identify them. You also need to know what they look like so I suggest that you go to google and look for the general shape to identify these pests at night.

The black light is the best way to do it and whne you go out you will need to turn over big stones and things thats where they go at night because the stones will hold the heat of the days sun.

The Scorpions are the crawling creatures of night. The Scorpions can be found in dry hot places under rocks and big stones. You must Carrie a forceps to catch the tail and a box where the Scorpion can be placed inside easily.

Thanks for your reply. I've read that the two species I mentioned are found in moist wooded environments rather than dry ones, but it seems that all scorpions like to live under rocks. I know of a place to look where I can turn over stones during the day.  add a comment
