A bulge at C5-6 should not result in swallowing difficulties. It may or may not result in facial sensory changes. Without examining and reviewing the imaging I cannot diagnose

I would not say it is serious but it is very discomforting. It may or may not result in facial sensory changes. You might experience facial numbness as well but without getting an examine I can not make a diagnosis. If you are concerned, perhaps a second opinion with a neurologist would be helpful.

While a bulging disc may sound serious, for most, the pain will slowly subside in time. A doctor may prescribe pain medication and stretching exercises to help the healing process. There could be some concern if the pain continues. In some cases, surgery may be needed if the disc is pressing against the spine or nerves.

C5 disc bulge is a cause of serious concern and should be dealt with immediately. Not only can it affect the nerves to your upper limbs causing pain but it can also affect your phrenic nerve to a variable extent which may cause respiratory problems.
