This depends on the recommendation of your doctor. I was prescribed antibiotics for a very mild case of "walking pneumonia" and didn't miss a day of work. However, more severe cases of pneumonia can require a hospital stay or bed rest. It is best to follow the recommendation of your physician.

After 48 hours after starting the antibiotic, you are no longer contagious. Most people start feeling better around a week. Others, it could take weeks before getting back their strength. You need lots of rest, liquids and eat. After a week of recovery there will be some difficulties returning to work or daily activities. See your doctor avoid a relapse!

After a case of pneumonia which was treated with antibiotics one should be fit to get back to work 24 hours after the last intake of the antibiotics. You should know that physical work should not be done for at least 48 hours after the last intake of medicine because of weakness and fatigue.

It really depends on how severe your condition is. You will be able to return to work within 5 to 7 days. This also depends on how well you are feeling and if you are up for the tasks at hand.
