How often is the list of jobs with the federal government updated?

I see postings on there for months.

The official federal jobs website is updated each week. The reason that the jobs are posted for so long is many of the jobs will accept applications for months before a decision is made as to if they have enough qualified applicants for the position. Many jobs have a close date, but it is changed to allow more applicants.

The job site is updated frequently as new jobs become available. You'll see certain postings listed for months when those postings are for hundreds/thousands of new slots to be filled, or when there are fewer than desired applicants. Despite the older listings on the board, you'll always see new listings several times a week, if not daily.

The list is updated each week day with new jobs as they become available. However, jobs that are already posted are only removed as filled or on expiration.

It depends on the job, and if when/they are filled. Some are up only a week (or a few days), and some are up for months.
