Most cab drivers earn about minimum wage. It's usually a base amount plus miles and tips. Then they have to pay for expenses like gas, insurance, parking tickets and such out of their own check. It's not very high paying and that's why most people don't keep the job long.

Cab drivers on average earn anywhere from about $8.50 per hour to $15.75 per hour with tips ranging from $1.50 to $9.50 an hour for an annual wage of anywhere from $18,000-$43,000. You'll make much more in a big city than in a smaller town.
