They are not signed, and do not get paid a salary. Some extras do not even get paid, they just get the enjoyment of being able to see themselves in the movie. Other times extras are paid, but it is only a flat rate which is agreed upon and they get paid after the movie is filmed.

Movie extras pay varies based on whethere their role is a speaking or non-speaking role. The type of scene you are in as well as hours also play a role.

It varies a lot based on the size of the production budget, from zero to $100 a day usually. Commonly it will be $50, but long shoots and more appearances may pay $100 or more.

An extra's pay depends on if they are union members. Union extras tend to make $100 to $300 a day. A non-union member usually makes minimum wage. So, for 8 hours of work, non-union members will make about $50.

It generally depends on what company is paying for the production of the movie. Extras featured on larger-scale productions will make more money than someone who appears in a low budget, made for T.V. movie.

It really depends on if you are silent, one of many, single, or actually have a dialouge. Average price is around $100 dollars per day on set, sometimes less, sometimes more.
