How much amperage is a 12-3 wire rated to carry?

I don't want to start a fire, and I need to know how much power I can put through this wire.

12-3 means the wire is a 12 gauge wire with 3 wires. 12 gauge is able to carry up to 20 amps, so if it will be connected to a 20 amp breaker that would be a suitable wire to use. You can also put a lesser amount of current through the wire as well (ex. 15 amps).

A 12-3 wire can handle a max of 25 amps but should only be used on a max 20 amp curcuit breaker to prevent fire or other safty issues from becomming a problem.

number 12 wire is rated to carry 20 amps. standard house voltage is 120 volts to 240 volts. the wire you're using most likely can carry up to 600 volts.

Assuming that you are running a short distance (i. e. under 50 feet). you should be able to draw 25 amps. Anything over 50 feet and you'll begin to encounter voltage drop.
