The average dog has 26 vertebrae. 7 cervical, 13 thoracic, and 6 lumbar. Some breeds such as the English Bulldog may frequently have a 7th lumbar vertebra, or a portion of a vertebra called a transitional vertebra. Vertebrae do canines have a dog. Keep Cool in the Summer Heat They really work.

That would be seven. Dogs don't have the strongest necks in the animal kingdom. And the proper term for that is the cervical vertebrae. Almost all the bones along the dogs back are also called vertebrae. In fact, it runs down all the way to the tip of the dogs tail.

Most dogs have 26 vertebrae in their spine, but the specific number can vary by breed, the size of the animal and whether the animal's tail has been cropped or is intact..

All mammals from the screw to the girraffe have exactly 7 cervical vertebra. It is one of the features of the placenta genus. (I'm not sure about marsupials).
