There are 1,048,576 kilobytes in a gigabyte. The natural assumption would be 1,000,000 based on the name, but memory is built up by factors of two - 2**20 = 1,048,576

There are no even conversion values in working with bytes, for example, there are 1024 bytes in 1 kilobyte. In 1 megabyte there are 1024 kilobytes. And in 1 gigabyte there are 1024 megabytes. Thus, in 1 gigabyte there are 1024 * 1024 kilobytes, or 1048576 kilobytes in 1 gigabyte.
