The number of babies a rabbit has can vary greatly based on the breed of rabbit. Smaller breeds will typically have between two and four bunnies in a litter while the larger breeds will have on average six to twelve bunnies in their litters. The gestation period lasts twenty-eight to thirty-five days.

It all depends on the doe she can have anywhere from one to ten babies at a time the reason they populate so quickly is because they have a ninety day breeding cycle and the sooner you take the the babies from her the sooner she will be able to breed back.

Litters can range from 1 baby (also called "kits") to double digits. Not all babies survive, and not every litter is the same size, even from the same Mom. A good estimate is about 4-5 babies in a litter, though I've personally had 12 in one litter. Rabbits can give birth every 30 days, just about until they die.
