umbilical hernia recovery can take between two to 4 weeks. You nay have abdominal soreness for some time after that. You would need to be careful in any activity requiring use if the abdomen, such as standing up or getting up out of bed or a chair. Care should be taken when sneezing and coughing.

Generally, revovery time from an umbilical hernia is two to four weeks. On adults, it is generally an out-patient procedure, but the area will still be sore and pain medication may be needed. For small children, it is important to go to the doctor right away.
