Parvo can last for 9 months or longer in the environment. Please, if you have any worries of parvo you MUST have ALL you animals tested, and ask your vet how to clean your environment, and you CANNOT treat Parvo on your own- it is very, very FATAL.

The parvo virus can live for nine months or longer. It can spread very rapidly and be deadly. It can even live without a host for about six months.

Parvo is shed by dogs while they are ill and for up to month after the pup has recovered. It lives in soil for 7 or more months if the area is not deconaminated. Best option for inexpensive cleaning that won't kill lawns is 1 part bleach to 30 parts water. Bleaching soiled household surfaces where possible helps too.

Parvo is a deadly virus and if you have had a dog survive it then you are extremely lucky. The parvo virus can live outside a host for up to six months though and so any dog in the area is at risk without vaccinations.
