Generally the flu can last anywhere from a few days to two weeks. If you have been intensely sick for two weeks already, if your symptoms don't improve within the next day or so, it would be wise to consult with your doctor, as you might have something more serious than the flu.

Actual flu, or influenza, hangs on for a long time. The fever, chills, achiness, and respiratory symptoms may persist for a week or longer but the generalized weakness can last for another two to four weeks. If complications such as pneumonia occur, recovery time can be compromised. If your illness persists, call your doctor. You may need an antibiotic.

The flu can last for varied amounts of time. I have seen people who had the flu for up to a couple weeks (that's about the longest I've seen, so beyond that it could be something more than the flu.) Generally, however, I haven't seen it extend past a week.

Since the flu is viral, the worst symptoms usually pass in 2-4 days. If you have flu-like symptoms that don't go away, you could have a bacterial infection. You should go see a doctor because you may need antibiotics.
