At about three weeks, the pup can start to eat seeds, cheerios, or even start attacking pellets. They need to be with their mother until at least a month old, but they can begin eating vegetables and rabbit food. Be careful with fruits, as they can cause diarrhea, causing dehydration.

After they pass the pink stage and have grown hair, and are active in the pen. If you put food down, and they eat it, they're ready. About 2-3 weeks.

It normally takes about 3-4 weeks for baby gerbils to eat on their own. Contact a qualified exotics vet (who specialises in rodents) for care tips/advice if mum's gone.
