Dental school requires one to graduate with a four year college degree and then proceed into their specialty to become eligible for licensure as a DDS. In most instances, there will be a minimium of 4 additional years of training above and beyond the bachelors degree.

A dentist requires a doctrine degree of about on average, 4 years after your bachelors degree which is also about 4 years, so in total you will need about 8 years of schooling. In terms of credits you need about a average of 60 in the needed courses, I hope this was of help.

You have 4 years of undergraduate school to get a Bachelor's degree. Be sure to take all of the necessary prerequesits to get into a dental program. Then you have 4 years of dental school. If you graduate, you're a dentist. Or you can choose a specialty, such as orthodontics, and continue your schooling another year or two.
