Question by  zoid (49)

How long can coffee sit before it's not any good?

In other words, does coffee go bad if I don't drink it shortly after making it?

Coffee does not spoil. It will grow mold in a few days if left at room temperature. Refrigerate it, and you can heat it up and drink it days later.

Coffee can set only 45 minutes before it starts to break down and get bitter and strong.

Coffee is like any other beverage. It has a "shelf life" if you will. However, it doesn't really "go bad" as much as it grows mold. I would suspect that mold growing starts shortly after the coffee cools. I would not recommend drinking it any more than a few hours hold.

Sometimes I re-brew my day old coffee into a new batch- just pour it back into the coffee pot through the old grounds. It freshens the coffee, re-heats it, and has a wonderfully robust flavor.

As long as you haven't added creamer, coffee can sit for hours and still be good. However, if you leave the burner on, the coffee will get stronger.

The coffee will get very cold if you do not drink it right away. It will not go bad right away, only if you already put creamers or milk into it!

The only good coffee is coffee you can drink cold. That's a lie. Let some dark roast sit for a day and then try it cold.
