How does someone become a comedian?

Most comedians start by doing stand up comedy routines in bars and clubs on amateur night. Of course you won't be paid for this, but you will get a lot of great feedback and experience that will help you grow and mature in your art. Keep at it and eventually you will be "discovered" and get some paying gigs.

Put together a routine and then try it out at "open mike" nights at clubs in your area. Go to see a lot of comedians and watch what works and what doesn't.

The first question should be if you are truly funny? If you are you could go to places that have an open mic night to work on your delivery. You can go to comedy clubs and try out for the manager there. You might want to hire a manager to help you get gigs. Good luck!...

Go to local comedy clubs and see if they have an open mic night. That way you can get your foot in the door.
