The exact mechanism is not known, however, the chemical components of the drug inhibit mitosis. This mitosis inhibition prevents cell division. Since viruses can not be treated with antibiotics, and they are contained within the affected cells, the best way to control the virus spreading is to stop cell division.

Podofilox only works on the outer skin. They warn against using it internally. They warn to only use for a short period of time otherwise side effects increase.

These types of health treatments are ambiguous at best, you should consult a physician before doing anything too "official" icy-hot pads are great, and fluids do as much as-the stereotype.
