TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. They have been utilized for several years to help alleviate pain. It works in part by sending small electrical signals through the skin to the nerves to try and block the nerve signal that transports the pain signal. This treatment seems to be more effective on some people than on others.
