How does a cat have a voice?

I'm told they don't have vocal chords.

Cats do have vocal cords and they are more complex than ours. Cats express emotions such as fear (growling), contentment (purring), and impatience (meowing) with their voices.

Cats do have a larynx, where the vocal chords are located. These are not as sophisticated as human vocal chords, but they allow the cat to make sounds.
