A book report starts with a solid one parargraph introduction and thesis. The body of your report supports the thesis, then wrap it up with a final paragraph summary.

First organize it by what the most important things are: title, author, main characters, and main story. Think about and then write next about what makes this book most interesting: characters, setting, story, the mental pictures built by good writing, or how the writer tells the story, such as with flashbacks, in a straight sequence, or by jumping scenes.

The teacher usually has specific requirements. Generally, the report names the book and the author, gives a brief overview of plot, and highlights positive/negative aspects of the work.

A book report should include descriptions of major plot elements and characters in a book. If applicable, artistic themes and social commentary should also be discussed.
