To avoid getting ingrown hairs on your underarm you should make sure to thoroughly wash and if you shave make sure you use a new blade each time. An unclean blade is dull and while shaving the hair causes the follicle to break inwards.

Basically, all you can do is stop shaving your underarm. You can try to prevent it by being kind to your skin, moisturizing, and always shaving in the same direction every time, in the direction of the growth rather than against it. This will not stop it, but should help at least a little.

You probably need to do a few things. First, change your razor. Make sure you're using a multiblade razor. Second, make sure that you scrub your under arms daily- exfoliating properly will held reduce the occurence of ingrown hairs.

The cheap and easy way is to exfoliate regularly with a gentle mesh scrubber (available at drug stores, Target, Wal Mart). Also consider using a cleanser with salicylic acid.

Try plucking the ingrown hairs out with a pair of tweezers. Also, buy a loofah and use it for about 1 to 2 minutes per underarm to help reduce ingrown hairs. Eliminating razors and using hair removal lotions help as well. Lastly, if you refuse to discontinue shaving then shave in the same direction that the hair is growing.
