A fun way to start a collection of recipes is to have a recipe get together. Invite relatives, friends, members of social or community groups to gather and share recipes. Ask that everyone bring at least one recipe to share. Have them make the dish to bring to the exchange, so people can taste the recipe they are getting.

The first thing you can do is write down all the recipes you already make. Use recipe cards or start you own recipe journal. Next, try different recipes from other sources. Only document the recipes your family enjoys. In no time, you will have your own collection.

Begin by thinking about what baking recipes you make regularly. Then add those that are favorites for the holidays. Add stories or background information to make the recipes personal.

Test recipes. Use computer to store recipes according to ingredients or type. Scan recipes on packages of ingredients. Scan or take pictures of results to keep with recipe.
