How do you separate a boy/girl room?

My son and daughter have to share a room.

Rather than separating the room by gender, try to pick a unisex theme like underwater or the jungle for the whole room and let them pick their own accents.

You could paint their side of the room (or 2 walls) with boy or girl colors, or whatever colors they choose. Also, try using rugs to make separate spaces in the room, and make sure their bedding reflects their tastes and personalities. If you use personal touches, they will feel more like it is their room.

There are many attractive screens available that can act as a room divider. Also, a more functional solution would be to divide the room with double sided bookcases, which would allow your children to both decorate their shelves and store their belongings.

Pick a color that they both like that is both for boys and girls. Then decorate her half of the room with the things she likes and decorate his half of the room with things he likes. It will look coordinated if you get the same furniture for both of your children.
